Chief Business Officer for a deep tech industrial clean air company

The customer

A seed-stage deep tech company with proprietary air-filter technology deployed globally to tackle industrial air pollution.

The problem

A Chief Business Officer for international expansion, a hire that needed technical credibility with industrial clients, commercial aggression for global growth, and the risk appetite to join an early-stage company.

The challenges

The candidate pool was tiny and globally dispersed. Standard executive search playbooks simply do not reach it, because the profile sits between heavy industry and frontier climate tech.

Our approach

We mapped global clean tech, industrial tech and climate startup ecosystems, targeting operators who had already made the move from large corporates into early-stage roles.

How we ran it

We searched non-obvious pools deliberately, sustainability leaders inside industrial conglomerates and business development leaders from carbon and energy firms, rather than the obvious startup shortlist.

What was unique

The willingness to build the shortlist from adjacent, non-obvious talent pools for a role with no off-the-shelf profile.

Outcome

A search the founder credits as instrumental to the company's international expansion.
